Camps
| Today, we are more connected to and knowledgeable about more parts of our world than ever before. However, knowing does not always equal understanding and we are still encumbered by misconceptions of places and cultures we have never experienced. Travel provides the opportunity to see things from a new perspective. However, the brevity and superficiality of tourist style travel often offers only a glimpse, leaving us still quite unaware of the day to day reality of a place. Conversely, when presented with a means of true interaction, travel provides the opportunity for all involved to learn and grow. By living, working and playing side by side, the teens will not only discover the subtle differences between cultures, but, more importantly, the inherent similarities that exist among all people. In addition, they will build the confidence to begin to define their own identity, one that goes beyond their culture, race and gender. | |
